📆 The Check-Out: You're Invited - Our Black Friday 'Open Mic' @ Nudie Jeans!
+ 5 cool climate events + what's in our basket - Living Things Soda, Small99 + GrowNYC...
Happy Thursday! Welcome to The Check-Out - your weekly dose of climate x consumer goods inspiration, and your discovery box of products and events the Following the Footprints team are loving this week. It’s great to have you here.Â
This week is a little different. We’re selfishly taking the spotlight to highlight something very very very exciting happening on Wednesday - our second ‘Open Mic’ event, kindly hosted by Nudie Jeans! This time round we’re focused on Black Friday and all the complexities that brands have to navigate around the day. How do we shift consumer mindsets? What role does better stock planning have, and how do we do this? So many questions, we can’t wait to dig in.
After we give you a taster of what to expect, we’ll share what the Following the Footprints team has loved and consumed this week and 5 Climate x Consumer Goods events coming up. Let’s dig in…

Free on Wednesday 27th November?
Today’s leading consumer brands are thinking about the impact of their actions on tomorrow’s world.
Every year, Black Friday brings into focus the role we as brands, and as consumers, play. On Wednesday 27th November we’re gathering our community at Nudie Jeans to talk about what brands should do next.
Can’t make this event, but want to hear about the next? Say no more - add your name to our list!
Want a taster? We’ll discuss…
How can this day be an education opportunity?
What is necessary to shift consumer mindsets into valuing products that will last them a lifetime?
What role does reuse have in overconsumption?
How do we price products appropriately?
Can better stock management and sales have a positive impact?
+ so much more…
We’re THRILLED to be partnering with 4 awesome brands!
MOMO Kombucha will be sharing the tastiest kombucha in town, SASSY will be serving up their ciders, The Uncommon will be gracing us with some delicious delicious wine and Belazu are the ultimate snacks to bring to a party.
What do we mean by ‘Open Mic’? Let us explain…
Don’t worry, we don’t plan on serenading you with our dulcet tones (I know I know, super disappointing).
Our goal at Following the Footprints is to dig into what consumer brands are doing behind the scenes to have a better impact on our planet.
Our approach has always been to pass the mic to those brands, and hear directly from them.
Therefore, we choose to gather our community in an ‘Open Mic’ format. Mid-way through the evening, we’ll be facilitating a short group discussion in response to some of the questions above. 1 minute speaking cap, if you want to jump in… the floor is yours! If not, sit back and listen, it’s fascinating!
One thing is guaranteed…
You’ll leave feeling inspired, having met new friends, and with some sweet sweet brands (did we mention The Uncommon, MOMO Kombucha, SASSY and Belazu??) in your belly.
We’re keeping this small - 50 people, max. Last time round it was invite-only, this time we’re opening up a few spaces to our wider community (that’s you). We’d LOVE to meet you and get to know you better! Grab your spot FAST! Once they’re gone, they’re GONE!
Still not convinced? FTF team member Henry put together a recap from our invite-only July event with Nudie Jeans, focused on the future of responsible consumption. Sit back, relax and enjoy…
If you have any questions about the event, reach out directly, it’s always a joy to hear from you - leone@followingthefootprints.com.

🔎 What we loved and consumed this week:
From Ellie in London: I was given the coolest sticker at work, which I immediately put on my water bottle (which is very precious real estate). Someone told me it was from Living Things Soda, so I had to go and try it. The cool branding and packaging lived up to the taste. Delicious!
From Laura in Manchester: Recently I bought something for work rather than my home life, which is pretty rare (most of my work purchases are travel and tech). We bought the Small99 Action Box which included a little Higher or Lower game in which you order the cards depending on their relative GHG emissions. After you are done, you flip them over to see if you were right. It was a great way to start conversations and warm up the room during a client visit before we sat down to discuss what mitigation action we are taking this month.Â
From Jenny in New York: Returning to the stage with my produce recommendations, this time I bring you parsnips! I didn’t think much of the root vegetables until I cooked them to serve as samples during a GrowNYC farmers market volunteer shift. Turns out they’re quite nutty and delicious even just sauteed (typically roasted), and I’ve been missing out!
